The SwissRN and the Global Federation of National Reproducibility Networks
SwissRN Hosts the Global Federation of Reproducibility Networks
Since January 2026, SwissRN serves as the Coordinating Office of the Global Federation of Reproducibility Networks (GFRN) - an international alliance of 23 national and regional Reproducibility Networks spanning all continents.
Founded in 2025, the GFRN promotes collaboration between its member networks, strengthens shared values of research quality, and engages with international stakeholders to advance open, transparent, and reproducible science. The federation operates on a distributed, rotating coordination model: SwissRN at the University of Zurich is the first formal host of the Coordinating Office, following the initial coordination by UKRN.
What does this mean for SwissRN?
Hosting the GFRN Coordinating Office positions Switzerland at the centre of the global reproducibility movement. SwissRN supports GFRN governance, manages communications across the network, coordinates engagement with EU-funded initiatives such as iRISE, OSIRIS, and TIER2, and is building the operational infrastructure for future hosts.
Upcoming: The next GFRN in-person meeting takes place on 4 May 2026 at the World Conference on Research Integrity (WCRI) in Vancouver. The next online General Assembly meeting is scheduled for 8 May 2026.
